Tracera is a startup based in New York that develops a platform based on artificial intelligence to automate the collection, verification, and reporting of sustainability data, with a specific focus on Scope 3 emissions. Founded in 2022 within the venture studio of Bain & Company, Tracera’s vision is a business world where ESG conversations are as important as financial ones, and their mission is to handle ESG data so business leaders can power real change. From its beginnings, Tracera embraced the ambitious challenge of offering companies worldwide a precise, scalable, and automated way to comply with international standards like CSRD and TCFD. Tracera seeks to help companies measure and reduce their environmental impact.
A limited legacy MVP that did not allow for scaling necessary functionalities.
The company received large volumes of physical documents in various languages and formats. These documents were manually uploaded from different countries and time zones, and they varied greatly in structure, content type, units of measurement, and frequency.
Frequent and unpredictable “ad-hoc requests” requests, typical of a product under formation.
Undefined requirements, as often happens with truly innovative products, which demand an iterative and very flexible approach.
The need to build something new in a landscape that is still evolving and being defined. Tracera sought a platform capable of interpreting environmental documentation of all types, from anywhere in the world. This involved transforming disordered information into sustainable decisions.
Entropy committed to the project from the start, bringing not only technology but also conviction. Entropy bets on the project’s long-term vision. They demonstrated this commitment by adapting to a tight budget and offered an economic agreement designed to accompany Tracera’s growth, clearly prioritizing the strategic relationship over immediate profit. Entropy showed conviction in Tracera, even before the product fully existed. Entropy’s solution involved several key elements, focusing on building a robust technical foundation and operational efficiency:
Entropy helped Tracera build a strong, centralized tech team in Argentina by adding internal architects, implementing a custom internship program, and forming a team of high-potential junior developers. This solved the problems they had with dispersed collaborators and allowed them to grow to over 10 engineers in Tucuman.
With the collaboration of on-site ML engineers, Entropy developed Tracera's AI-based platform to analyze, learn, and recommend in real-time, adapting to each new data ingestion scenario. The AI platform reads, understands, and structures data regardless of format, language, or unit.
Entropy centralized data entry and AI training in Argentina to resolve document loading bottlenecks and enhance AI precision. This approach replaced the previous European set-up, optimizing resources and alignment.
Tracera fulfilled and surpassed the goals set for their investment round.
The ability to scale technology and operations is driving sustained growth and enabling new investment rounds and ongoing global expansion. Tracera recently raised a $12M Series A to scale its AI platform.
The work together consolidated Tracera's position as an innovative solution in the sustainability field.
Automating data collection and processing freed teams to focus on impact.
